ABNA24 - The head of the Bahrain Human Rights Society has emphasized that Iran's right to defend itself is not a matter for debate or dispute, but rather a legal right guaranteed by international law, foremost among which is the principle of legitimate self-defense.
"Baqer Darwish," the head of the Bahrain Human Rights Society, spoke to the Taghrib News Agency regarding the brutal aggression and atrocities of American-Zionist terrorists against the Iranian people and the consequences of silence and complicity.
He stated: "The crime of targeting the Minab school and the massacre of students, along with attacks on Iran's infrastructure, is a clear violation of international humanitarian law and a crime against the human conscience. Attacking urban facilities, especially schools, is a blatant crossing and trampling of all red lines, as educational places have turned into death fields. This crime reveals to the world the true picture of the US government and the occupying regime in their savagery, massacre, and elimination in this criminal war against Iran."
Why is the UN and International Bodies Silent?
Raising the questions, "Where is the UN and why is it not taking action? Why does it not explicitly condemn? Why hasn't an international committee been formed to investigate this war crime?" he said: "Is it because of the money the US government gives to UN bodies, or because of this country's domination over the will of weak states? Volker Türk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, should resign. Despite all these crimes committed against the Iranian nation, he has not taken a single real or serious action."
The head of the Bahrain Human Rights Society noted that the killing of students is not "collateral damage" as promoted in some speeches and discourses, but rather the direct result of the illegitimate and disproportionate use of force that has made no distinction between civilians and military targets. He added: "International law has left no room for ambiguity on this matter, stating that the protection of civilians, especially children, is an absolute obligation, and any violation thereof is a crime that warrants investigation and accountability."
He continued: "On the other hand, targeting essential and vital infrastructure and basic services upon which citizens' lives depend is another form of collective punishment that doubles the suffering of civilians and destroys their right to a dignified life, health, and security. Destroying this infrastructure and facilities ruins the lives of ordinary people and creates long-term humanitarian crises."
Baqer Darwish asserted: "More dangerous than the situation we are witnessing is the silence of the international community, its justification of these crimes, or the shameful statements that are not commensurate with the scale of these atrocities. This silence cannot be considered neutrality; rather, it is a moral and legal failure, and sometimes even serves as a green light for the continuation of these aggressions and violations against the rights of the Iranian nation."
The Principle of Non-Impunity is Fundamental to Any Fair Legal System
Emphasizing that responsibility for committing these crimes lies not only with those who carry out the attacks but also includes all those who designed and ordered these crimes, or those who provided cover for them or remained silent in the face of them, he said: "The principle of non-impunity is fundamental to any fair legal system, and any negligence or shortcoming in this regard paves the way for the repetition of crimes without fear of accountability or punishment."
This Bahraini legal expert stated: "What is necessary today is not a superficial condemnation, but a clear and decisive stance: an immediate halt to the aggressions, an independent and transparent international investigation, and the accountability of all officials without any exception in the US government and the occupying regime. Just as it must be emphasized once again that the lives of civilians are not bargaining chips, the protection of children is not a political option, but a legal and moral duty that is not open to interpretation."
What Happened at Minab School is a Blaring Alarm Bell
He continued: "What happened at the Minab school is not a passing or ordinary matter; it is a blaring alarm bell indicating that either the value and credibility of international law and human worth are restored, or the world will be driven towards the logic of force, where everything is destroyed to appease the Epstein-like savage clique in the US government and the Israeli occupying regime."

He added: "One should not condemn the response to aggression, because international law explicitly states that anyone subjected to assault and aggression has the right to defend themselves by all legitimate and lawful means."
Baqer Darwish stated that the silence of any international or civil party in the face of aggression against Iran and casting doubt on this country's right to defend itself is not neutrality but an overt partisanship with the aggressors. He emphasized that Iran, like any sovereign state, has every right to defend its land and people, and ignoring this right is a clear violation of the principles of international justice. He added: "All US bases in the region, which are used to aggress against Iran, partition the region, serve the Greater Israel project, and plunder the wealth and destiny of nations, must all be closed and shut down."
